Stranded vessel
A ship had experienced a malfunction in its engine system while transiting the Atlantic Ocean. As the engineers noticed the malfunction on-time, they were able to reach Punta Delgada for further investigation. After investigation, there was no other option than transporting a complete new turbo engine to Punta Delgada.
As the ship had a strict deadline to arrive in the north of Spain, our customer requested a charter solution from Antwerp to Punta Delgada. The turbo vessel was fragile, outsized and overweight, making it impossible to transport via traditional air cargo.
Arranging a charter aircraft
Our operations team quickly assessed the situation and determined that an aircraft charter solution was the only viable option for transporting the turbo vessel. Having direct access to an aircraft fleet of one of our partners within the Benelux, we were able to source a suitable aircraft that was able to depart the same day.
Arrival on PDL Airport
One of our most experienced couriers was lucky enough to accompany the vessel on this charter flight, being able to arrange the handling of the shipment on the destination airport of PDL. After arranging the handling on the destination airport, the main engineer of the vessel inspected the condition of the vessel, installed it as soon as possible and did some tests.
After everything was installed and cleared, the vessel was able to depart within 24 hours, making sure that the delay was minimized as much as possible. The result was a very happy customer from our side and some outstanding logistical work in cooperation with our partners.
